Thomas Wilfred was an artist who influenced many artists in the past decades. Within this project we went back to his origins to understand his artform and thoughts and why he inspired following artists.

PROCESS

We dived in his patents and essays to teach ourselves his approach of creating LUMIA ART, the 8th fine art form, as he called it. Although we wouldn’t be able to recreate any machine with the precision he did, we explored his tools, techniques and forms of composition to perform a glimpse of what he did. The result were two LUMIA machines we performed with.
