CONTRAST OF LIGHT
Inspired by the memories one experiences through life, this is the story of the strength of old friendships and family. The song „Just another day“ given by Patrick Leuchter was a tribute to the composers deceased grandfather. In this project this song shall be transformed in a spacial work. As a result we developed a light installation related to the children‘s nightlamp which impresses the comfort, calm and safety of beloved relatives.
CONSTRUCTION
The lantern were turned from the top. Moved by five stepper motors which were controlled by an Arduino. For each lantern a light source was positioned from the bottom.
MOVEMENT
Through a playful discovery, various speeds and directions were explored. The installation changed its pace which created several moments and moods depending on the speed. They can be characterized from calming and soothing to exciting and dizzily.
Spectators described fascinating moments, when the space was sometimes appearing smaller and in the next moment endlessly big, almost as if you would float in the universe.
